TRACK DATA
RECEIVES NASD APPROVALTO SELF-CLEAR TRADES EXECUTED ON TRACK ECN
BROOKLYN, NY– April 8, 2004 – Track Data Corporation (Nasdaq: TRAC) today
announced that it has received approval from the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. ("NASD") to self-clear trades executed on Track ECN. The Company must receive approval from the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, expected to take three to six months, before it commences self-clearing operations.
"Track ECN charges 3 mils ($.003) per share and rebates between 2.5 and 2.7 mils ($.0025 - $.0027) per share, which leaves us with a razor-thin profit margin," said Barry Hertz, Track Data Chairman and CEO. "Self-clearing will help us realize as much of that margin as possible."
The Company currently clears its Track ECN business through Penson Financial Services. Penson will continue to clear all retail customer business for Track Data Securities Corp., even after Track ECN begins self-clearing.
